| Great Ocean Road, Australia |
Growing up in the Canadian Rockies, I have always had a deep-rooted love of nature and the great outdoors (you may notice this in a lot of my photos... kind on an obsession). I love hiking, yoga, cycling, slack-lining, timbits, coffee, list-making, and talking with strangers. I also love adventure and need constant change, otherwise I'll go crazy. One day I plan to open up a kick-ass community cafe, but that's a bit farther down the road still.

Once upon a time, I went to a prestigious arts university to study photography. While I had a bit of fun, I woke up one day with the realization that no one can really teach you how to be an artist. Sure, they can give you tips and point you in the right direction, but beyond showing you the ledge to jump off of, you are the one that has to take the leap.

Deciding that life and experience could, possibly, teach me way more than any classroom could, I quit. I also quit my job, got rid of everything I owned (save 3 boxes of photography gear and cookbooks at my parents place), and spent 15 months galavanting around the globe. On my own. And, boy, was I right. I have been forged and moulded, broken and refined, torn into a thousand little pieces and glued back together again. And, somewhere along the way, I decided that I never want to stop.
Astrophetic is my experimental playground. I have always loved writing, but only ever thought of the career as a job for the elite, chosen few. An idealistic dream that never really happens upon the common people. That is, until I met a crazy, funny, seemingly lucky man on a 42 hour sleeper train from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok. This guy was living the dream. I couldn't believe my eyes. A real-life, full-blown, freelance travel writer! Say whaaat? Yup. Anyway, besides getting the chance to drool over amazing stories of adventure (and find a new internet obsession), what was initially a dreaded journey, turned out to be exactly the inspiration/slap to the face that my life needed.

| on top of the Marina Bay Sands (Singapore), climbing Sathorn Unique, coming home (that's my Dad!) |
I have just returned home from my travels for an episode that I like to call "The Pit-stop." This is where I will re-fuel my bank account, soak up an amazing Bow Valley summer, and work on designing and creating this shiny new life of mine.
I can not promise you mind-blowing writing or photography. I can't promise you a certain theme or subject matter (although, I expect that you will find a bunch of stuff on travel, goal-setting, warm, fuzzy Upworthy videos, and lists written in Spanish). Heck, I have no idea where I'm going with this.
But, what I do know, is that everything you are about to read and see will be 100% authentic, real-life s#!%. (Yes, I just swore on the internet). Astrophetic is a platform for me to be adventurous and take literary risks, to dump a bunch of words onto digital paper in hopes that someone will either enjoy it, or at least have something to say about it. This is a place where my creative and physical wanderlust and restlessness will turn into, what I hope is a unique and refreshing take on our ever-changing world and the humanity we share within it.
The world is full of beautiful people, interesting things and ideas, and crazy-cool places.
